SensoryTextured Apples
Cut out apples from sandpaper,tin foil, fabric,and cardboard. Glue each apple to a board. Have the toddler feel the difference.(CTC)(CD,22)(CA,37) Hard and Soft Box In a box, place different items that are hard,like rocks or blocks, and items that are soft, like foam, and cotton balls. Have the toddler feel the difference. (EF)(CD,22,24) Whipped Cream Play Get a couple containers of whipped cream, add food coloring to them. Put it on the table and have the toddlers explore it. (MM)(CD,22) Sand Play Get out a tray and fill it with sand, shovels, buckets,funnels and other sand toys. Gross Motor Inside
Tape Jumping Place a line of tape on the floor. Put another piece of tape on the floor and then another. Have the toddler jump from one piece of tape to the next. (PP) (PDH,13) Obstacle Course Set up a row of pillows for climbing:spread a blanket over the floor for crawling:pile up stuffed animals to climb over:arrange a tall block tower for the children to push over;set up large cardboard boxes with openings for the children to tunnel through; and a small blanket covered table to crawl under in the center of the course. Creative ExpressionPlay-Dough Hair
Tape a picture of the child onto a piece of construction paper. Slip the paper into a page protector and tape to the table all along the edges. Allow toddler to stick play-dough on the mat as hair or anything else. (PB)(CD,22)(CA,37) Dot Painting Pick up some dot painters. Let the toddler dot with the different colors all over the paper. (PB)(CD,22)(CA,37) Roll-on Painting Grab some cleaned, empty, roll-on containers and fill with paint. The toddler will then be able to paint on the paper without using a brush.
