SensorySensory Bottles
Fill up empty VOSS water bottles. They used those because they are very sturdy and have no ridges. They filled them up with Water and glitter. Water and foam number and letters, Fake leaves,ribbon, etc.(ST)(CD,22) Kitchen "Paper" Play Place different types of "Paper" that you find in the kitchen (For example, Tin foil, saran wrap,Wax Paper, and Parchment paper) in reach of the toddlers. Allow them to play and explore the different types of paper.(PCE) (CD,22,24) Icy Fun Freeze different toys into blocks of ice, some small and some large. Let the toddler play with the ice and try to get the toy out. (PB)(CD,22,29) Texture boards Glue(use tacky glue) sand paper - kitchen scrubbies - car wash mits - placemats - terrycloth towelling on dollar store cutting boards. Make a edge for them with colorful show laces. (KA)(CD,22,25) Spaghetti Bin Put cooked spaghetti noodles into a bin. Put small plastic pots and pans and stirring spoons into the bin as well. Have the child play with the spaghetti by mushing, mixing and maybe even tasting. (PCE)(CD,22) |
Gross Motor Inside
Cardboard box tunnel Take a cardboard and shape it into a tunnel, whether it be square or triangular. The toddler will then be able to crawl through it, sleep in it, or play with toys in it. (PB)(PDH,13)(CD,22) Bubbles Blow bubbles and have the children run around trying to pop them.(MM)(PDH,13)(CD,28) Outside Nature Walk Take a walk outside. Collect various things like leaves,feathers, flowers, grass,pinecones, etc. (FE) (PDH,13) Sprinkler Time On a hot day, Turn on a sprinkler outside. Take the toddlers outside and let them run through the sprinklers.(COM)(PDH,13) Sand-box-Play Hide different things or treasures in the sand-box outside. Music/MovementAs I was Sitting
As, I was sitting in my chair (Sit in chair) I knew the bottom wasn't there (Sit on floor) Nor legs, nor back,but I just sat(lay down on the floor) Ignoring little things like that.(KD)(CA,36,39,40) (CLL,21) Five little Fish Five little fishies, swimming in a pool (Wiggle five fingers) The first one said, "The pool is cool." (Show one finger, then wrap arms around body) The second one said, "The pool is deep." (Show two fingers, then hands measure 'deep') The third one said, "I want to sleep." (Show three fingers, then rest head on hands) The fourth one said, "Let's take a dip." (Show four fingers, then hands 'dive' into water) The fifth one said, "I spy a ship." (Show five fingers, then form scope with hands to peer through) Fisher boat comes, (Form 'V' with fingers, then move hands away from body) Line goes kersplash (Pretend to throw fishing line) Away the five little fishies dash (Wiggle five fingers away)(CA,36,39,40) (CLL,21) Alligator Farm Went down to the alligator farm, Sat on the fence but the fence broke down, The alligator bit me by the seat of my pants, and he made me do the hoo-chee-coo-chee dance. Let the child unroll 2 or 3 rolls of toilet paper. Grate a bar of ivory soap. Mix the toilet paper, soap, and warm water together in a bin. Allow the child to play with the mush. These things can include paper towel,tin foil, plastic wrap,popsicle sticks,etc. Allow the children to choose which texture they like best to paint on.
